We’re just two friends who fell in love with camping
No professional outdoors training. No sponsored adventures. Just two families, a couple of kids, a slightly battered tent — and a genuine belief that getting outside is one of the best things you can do with your family.
Boris
Chief Packing Optimiser & Campsite Scout
The organised half of the operation. If there’s a smarter system for rolling sleeping bags, Boris has tested it twice. If there’s a campsite with better shower blocks within a 40-mile radius, she’s already got it bookmarked. Responsible for all food planning, which is why the family has never gone hungry on a trip — and why the cool box is always suspiciously well-organised.
“I used to think camping meant roughing it. Turns out it means packing smarter than anyone else on the field — and knowing where the good loos are before anyone else does.”
— Boris on his camping philosophy
Riachard
Head of Gear Reviews & Questionable Decisions
The one who always thinks one more piece of kit will solve everything. Responsible for three impulse sleeping bag purchases, one air tent that took 45 minutes to inflate, and the campfire cooking experiments that occasionally work out brilliantly and occasionally require an emergency trip to the chip shop. Everything reviewed on this site has been used on a real trip — usually in the rain.
“Every single item we review, we’ve actually used — often in the rain, often with two tired children nearby. That’s the only honest way to test camping gear.”
— Riachard on why real testing matters
How we review things around here
Every product you read about on Campsters Paradise has been personally tested by us — usually on a real family trip, often in less-than-ideal weather, always with honest opinions. We buy most of our own gear; occasionally brands send us items to try, and when they do, we always say so clearly. We’re affiliated with some retailers, meaning we earn a small commission if you buy through our links — at no extra cost to you. This is what keeps the site running. It never influences what we write. If something isn’t good enough, we’ll say so.
